East Hendred Today
St
Mary's congregation is drawn from East Hendred and the
Downland villages nearby. The challenge of not having a
resident priest has encouraged many lay initiatives.
Members of the parish run flourishing programmes for First
Holy Communion and Confirmation while the choir provides
music for all major liturgical celebrations. On-going adult
formation takes many forms, including regular meetings for
shared reflection and prayer, some of them facilitated by
Holy Trinity Monastery. The parish is committed to
stewardship and, with St Patrick's, supports a number of
charities.
